Porto puzzle
Our proposal for the Porto Biennale 2021 is a celebration of urban, green commons, expressed through one of the oldest and most universal languages of human communication: drawing. Responding to the theme of Alter-scapes, the Porto Puzzle is a large scale temporary landscape proposal that establishes a new network of unexpected routes through the city, activating a series of green spaces. These spaces become the canvas for a collaborative cartography produced in collaboration with a large online community.
IMAGINED TERRAINS
Imagined Terrains was a digital collaborative mapping workshop we hosted in 2020 for @bartlett_landscape at UCL . The workshop took place online using the online drawing platform Miro. Over 100 participants took part from all over the world to produce a collective imagined landscape that emerged over a series of rounds.
TOttenham Tales
We have been commissioned by Jan Kattein Architects to design a mural on Tottenham High Road! The design has been developed in a collaborative drawing workshop with the students of Brook House Primary School. The childrens’ collaborative drawing acts as a concept sketch for the mural. Memories, objects and shapes drawn by the children are be extracted from the drawing, and translated into a pixelated, color-coordinated artwork.
Gran Bretagna’s
Our proposal for the British Pavilion at Venice Biennale 2020 in collaboration with Kevin Green @storeprojects and Edwina Attlee @edwinaedwinaedwina
We proposed to transform Padiglione Gran Bretagna into a quintessential caff - hosting an immersive experience for the duration of the Biennale and inviting visitors to reflect on the exhibitions in the adjacent pavilions over a bacon butty and an instant coffee. more info
Hedge Space
‘Hedgespace’, our competition entry for the open call for the RIBA summer installation 2019, themed around the idea of boundaries.
From rural, suburban to urban areas, one specific typology of boundary is so omnipresent that we run the risk of overlooking it: the hedge; a domestic boundary in the midst of intimate neighbourly separation - our proposal explores the theme of boundaries as an immersive, inverted spatial maze like installation. more info
Totes Emosh
Totes Emosh is a proposal to heighten and propagate the social potential of the canal and the symbolic language used by people to communicate with their community. By transforming the top of the Hoxton Docks into an exquisite display of emoticons informed by community conversations reduces it‘s physical inaccessibility and brings to light the digital conversations being had virtually on an architectural scale. The patchwork character and inherent user interaction leaves it‘s final form in perpetual need of upkeep through a continued input from every and anyone alike; approaching dog walkers, joggers, fleeting car passengers, canoeists, rowers and local youth groups.
Totes Emosh was our entry for the Antepavilion 2019 competition.
building baubles
Through a newly developed digital process, London’s iconic skyline is downscaled to bauble size: papercast making is a modeling technique that allows us to physicalise 3D scans of London's city fabric into real paper objects. This workshop was develpoed for STORE PROJECTS - each participant could choose from a range of meticulously mined London icons and assemble them into lightweight architectural Christmas tree decorations.

Atelier Astula is a proposal for a portable, transformable workspace made from sterling OSB. The proposal has been commended and will be published in the RIBA Journal October edition. more info

Rosetta Reset is an ongoing research project that explores the evolvement of language and the influence of emoji-based communication on society. By translating the original text of the Rosetta Stone into emoji’s we draw parallels to ancient image-based languages to speculate about future modes of communicating. more info

The Flash-back city workshop series explores the power of collaboration, and collective imagination. Through a gamified interface participants collectively draw, explore and develop an urban fabric based on crowdsourced associations and memories - creating large scale propositional, collaborative drawings through the collation of personal memories of a city or culture. more info

the bakerloos x Store Projects
This installation commissioned by Store Projects explored the use of pool noodles to construct a social seating landscape for Clapton Girl’s Academy. The design of the structure was produced using grasshopper to maximise efficiency and the construction took the form of a workshop with sixth form students at the school. First a net was woven using cable ties, pool noodles of set lengths and colours were then carefully inserted and secured according to a predetermined base plan. more info
RIBA late Live Drawing Marathon
The Bakerloos were invited to participate in a live drawing marathon as part of RIBA Late: Reaching peak Pastiche, an event that explored questions around neo georgian architecture. For the drawing marathon we developed a strategic card game that uses elements of classical architecture to construct facades drawn from unconventional elements. more info
barbicanisms
The Barbican is the identity-establishing protagonist of Culture Mile – the estate imposes itself inescapably on its surroundings. Iconic snippets of the interior worlds – following the idea of bringing the ‘inside out’ – serve as mobile, multifunctional incubators: what about a living room concert along Beech Street, playing from a mobile penthouse loggia raft? What about turning a Lauderdale Tower balcony into a theatre stage, or taking an outdoor cooking class in a displaced Barbican kitchen in Speed Garden? The Barbicanisms orchestrate the existing, but underused public spaces of Culture Mile in novel ways, reintroducing the domestic scale into the urban. more info

Switching scales, functions and commands, the pupils created a back-up city based on their memories creating an unique urban proposal based on the river Thames. The drawing process trains the ability to look out for emerging spaces and opportunities, making quick design decisions on the fly by reacting to each other, considering urban layers such as transport, housing and infrastructure. more info
Portable portico
The Portable Portico was a performative installation which was the result of a two week summer school at the Bartlett School of Architecture, taught by The Bakerloos in collaboration with Matt Lucraft. Students were allocated a 1 x 1m 'patch' of the Classicistic Portico in UCL's main quad. After a series of survey, scale drawing and modelling exercises the students designed and fabricated wearable reinterpretations of their patches. The summer school culminated in a parade back to the portico. More info
